Floral lamps : faites le bon choix

The floral lamp illuminates like a bud opening at dawn.

The floral lamp is a bold decorative choice for those who want to blend natural softness with effective lighting. Inspired by nature, it comes in table lamp, floor lamp and pendant forms, featuring stylised petals, slender stems or delicate corollas. This light fits perfectly in bedrooms and living rooms, where it becomes a focal point while spreading an even, inviting glow. Floral lamps suit all styles, from pared-back contemporary to romantic, with an array of materials and finishes.

What materials and finishes for a floral lamp?

Opaline glass: Floral lamps in opaline glass diffuse light gently, ideal for a subdued ambience. The glass, often mouth-blown, creates translucent petals 2 to 5 mm thick. For a bedside lamp, choose a model 25–35 cm high, with a 5–7 W LED bulb (400–600 lumens) for glare-free comfort.

Lacquered metal: Options in metal—white, gold or black lacquer—are prized for their sturdiness and graphic impact. Laser-cut petals showcase precise, sometimes openwork details that play with shadow. A metal floral floor lamp typically stands 140–160 cm high, perfect as a reading light. IP20 protection is sufficient for indoor use.

Pleated fabric: Floral lamps in pleated or stretched fabric over a metal frame evoke a vintage touch. They soften the light for a gentle glow, ideal in bedrooms. Opt for a 30–45 cm diameter for a lamp to sit on a chest of drawers or bedside table.

For an airy option, the floral pendant light channels the same design as a ceiling fixture, with paper, fabric or polycarbonate petals, and diameters from 40 to 80 cm depending on the room.

Which floral lamp for each room?

Bedroom: A 30 cm high floral table lamp with a 2700 K (warm white) LED bulb sets a calming mood. In children’s rooms, pick a model in polypropylene or untreated fabric, with no sharp edges, and a maximum power of 5 W.

Living room: A 150 cm floral floor lamp with a dimmer lets you adjust brightness throughout the day. For a 20 m² lounge, aim for a total output of 1200–1600 lumens, spread over several light sources if needed. Multi-headed models offer flexible lighting options.

Hallway or entrance: A small floral wall lamp or wall light of 20–30 cm diameter is enough to mark a passage. Choose a colour temperature of 3000 K for a natural look. For a wall version, the floral wall light offers decorative appeal and a space-saving solution, ensuring effective accent lighting.

In a dining room, the floral pendant light works best hung 70–80 cm above the table, with a diameter of 50–70 cm for tables 120–180 cm long. Use a dimmable LED bulb of 8–12 W (800–1200 lumens) to adjust the atmosphere at mealtimes.

Care tips and decorating ideas

Care: For glass floral lamps, dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth. Fabric models need gentle cleaning with a soft brush or low-power vacuum cleaner. Avoid abrasive products on lacquered or gold finishes.

Decor ideas: The floral lamp pairs perfectly with round mirrors or ceramic vases to enhance its botanical vibe. In a modern interior, it contrasts beautifully with clean lines and raw materials. For maximum impact, combine it with a floral chandelier in spacious living areas, or a floral ceiling light for cohesive style from floor to ceiling.

By mixing sizes and materials, the floral lamp complements any space—from a cosy reading nook to a lively dining room—lending a poetic touch and lighting performance tailored to every need.
